How Can severe Buttock Pain Be Treated?

I have been experiencing deep pain in my left side of buttocks for approx. 21/2 months similar to piriformis syndrome. Have been prescribed everything from Motrin 800mg, Tramadol, Medrol dose pack. Now given Soma 350mg and Celebrex 100mg. None give much relief except to cause drowsiness. When I get up to walk gluteal muscle seems to tighten up making it very difficult to walk. Should I continue with melds? Have also been referred to a pain management MD for Depo Medrol 80mg. Injection but appt is a couple of weeks away

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Most probably it will be due to neuropathic causes like sciatica.

Consult a neurologist and plan for an MRI scan.

As of now, analgesics like Gabapentin for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
